What Actually Happens During a Consultation with Dr. Poucher at Labiaplasty Center of Los Angeles?

By Dr. Courtenay Poucher, MD – Labiaplasty Center of Los Angeles

For many women, the decision to schedule a consultation with a labiaplasty surgeon is one of the most vulnerable steps they’ve ever taken in a healthcare setting. It involves an area of the body that is deeply personal, concerns that are rarely discussed openly and a level of trust that has to be earned. At Labiaplasty Center of Los Angeles, the consultation experience – from the moment of scheduling to the second a patient walks out the door – is designed with that vulnerability in mind at every single step.

Here is exactly what to expect.

Step One: The Free Mini Consultation by Phone

Before any in-person or Telehealth appointment with Dr. Poucher, most patients begin with a complimentary mini consultation by phone with the practice’s patient concierge. This no-cost, no-pressure call is the ideal starting point for women who want to ask general questions about procedures, cost, financing, recovery and scheduling without committing to anything further.

The patient concierge has helped thousands of women navigate their intimate surgical goals and is warm, knowledgeable and completely judgment-free. For many women, this phone call is the first time they’ve ever said their concerns out loud to another person – and the experience is consistently described as a relief.

If, after the complimentary consultation, the patient would like to move forward to a formal consultation with Dr. Poucher, the next step is scheduling either an in-person or Telehealth appointment.

Step Two: Scheduling the Consultation with Dr. Poucher

The in-person consultation with Dr. Poucher is $300; via Telehealth, it is $150. This fee is collected by phone prior to the appointment, and importantly, it can be applied in full toward any procedure booked within six months of the consultation date. Please note that a consult fee is not applied to book a procedure for revision cases.

For patients who choose a Telehealth consultation, photos of the patient’s anatomy are submitted in advance through Klara, the practice’s confidential, HIPAA-compliant patient communication platform. Klara allows patients to securely upload images and exchange messages with the team – all from a private device, at their own pace. Dr. Poucher reviews the submitted photos ahead of the appointment so the consultation itself can be focused, efficient and specific to the patient’s individual anatomy and concerns.

Step Three: Arriving at the Practice

Labiaplasty Center of Los Angeles is located in Valencia, California in a private, discreet professional setting with easy parking and convenient freeway access. Patients are not walking into a busy hospital lobby or a general medical waiting room – they are walking into a space specifically designed for this experience.

Upon arrival, the patient is greeted by a member of the all-women team and escorted to the consultation space. The environment is warm and intentionally feminine – designed to feel comfortable and private from the very first moment. Patients are offered a beverage and invited to settle in before the consultation begins. There is no rush.

Step Four: The Consultation with Dr. Poucher

The in-person consultation is conducted with both Dr. Poucher and the patient concierge present, so that every clinical question and every logistical question can be answered in one unhurried conversation.

The consultation begins with the patient sharing her concerns in her own words. Dr. Poucher listens – genuinely and completely – before conducting a focused examination of the specific anatomy the patient has identified as a concern. This is not a full pelvic exam. If a patient says, for example, that she feels her labia minora are too long or asymmetrical, Dr. Poucher will examine that specific area. A mirror is used during this portion of the consultation so that the patient can see her own anatomy clearly, articulate her concerns with precision and visualize Dr. Poucher’s recommendations and potential outcomes together with her surgeon. This approach is one of the most consistently praised aspects of the consultation experience – it transforms what could feel like a clinical exam into a collaborative, empowering conversation.

Dr. Poucher discusses the full range of options available to address the patient’s concerns, recommending only what is appropriate for her individual anatomy and goals. She never pushes a procedure. Patients leave knowing exactly what is recommended and why – with a clear understanding of what the procedure involves, what the recovery looks like and what results they can realistically expect.

Time and again, patients describe Dr. Poucher’s bedside manner as one of the most meaningful parts of their experience. In reviews on RealSelf and Google, words like “patient,” “warm,” “brilliant,” “unhurried” and “truly listened” appear repeatedly. One patient wrote that finding a doctor who truly listens is rare – and that Dr. Poucher was exactly that. Another described feeling so comfortable and cared for that her anxiety about surgery disappeared entirely before she even left the consultation.

Step Five: The Tour of the Surgical Suite

After all questions have been answered, patients are given a brief tour of the surgical room where procedures are performed. This is a detail that makes a meaningful difference for many women – seeing the actual space demystifies the experience and replaces anxiety with familiarity. All procedures at Labiaplasty Center of Los Angeles are performed in-office, under local anesthesia only. There is no hospital, no general anesthesia. The environment is calm, controlled and intimate.

Step Six: The Patient Concierge Office

Following the tour, the patient meets privately with the patient concierge to discuss their specific quote, potential surgical dates and, if desired, financing options. Flexible financing is available in-office, and the concierge can walk the patient through options without pressure or urgency.

If the patient is not ready to book on the day of the consultation, that is completely respected. The team will follow up with a warm, low-pressure check-in to answer any additional questions that may have come up after the appointment.

For Patients Who Are Still in the Early Stages

It bears repeating: no patient is expected to book a procedure at their consultation, and no patient is ever made to feel that they should. The goal of the consultation is to leave every woman feeling fully informed, cared for and completely confident in whatever she decides – and whenever she decides it.

If you are still in the early stages of considering labiaplasty or another intimate procedure, the free mini consultation by phone is the right place to start. It costs nothing, requires nothing and can answer more questions than months of online research.
