Labiaplasty for Comfort & Confidence During Sexual Intercourse
The Question
“During sex with my partner, I feel like my inner labia skin gets ‘pulled’ into my vagina when he penetrates me. It tugs the skin and hurts during intercourse and is often sore afterwards, too. My labia occasionally chafe or even bleed during exercise, too. This has gotten worse as I’ve aged. I feel like my labia majora are loose and ‘flappy’ and now there is vaginal gaping when we have intercourse, too. Is there a surgical solution to this discomfort?”

Thank you for reaching out. I’m proud of you for self advocating for your intimate comfort. You deserve to be pain free during intimacy and confidently comfortable during other physical activities.
First, I’d like to let you know that you’re not alone. I have treated thousands of women with the exact same complaint. In fact, over 90 percent of our patients connect with Labiaplasty Center of Los Angeles not for aesthetics, but for comfort.
Now, let’s get into the specifics of your question.
What I’m hearing is that your labia minora may extend beyond your labia majora, causing friction and/or pinching and pulling during intercourse. I’m also hearing that your labia majora has lost volume and that your perineum has stretched.
You don’t mention if you have been pregnant or lost significant weight, but both of these can be the cause of the volume loss and stretching.
Below, I’m going to address the most common solutions for the concerns you cite here.
Treatment for volume loss in the labia majora: Labia majoraplasty, because, typically, the fat volume is present but laxity of the skin hides it.
Treatment for stretched perineum: Perineoplasty to tighten the opening. This will also tighten the vagina about a third of the way in and bring the muscles together.
Treatment for extended labia minora: Labiaplasty, or – more specifically – labia minoraplasty, can help the labia minora go from an “outie” to an “innie,” meaning that post surgery, your labia minora can nestle into – and be covered by – your labia minora. This reduces irritation from clothing and physical activities while also reducing the likelihood of any pinching or pulling during intercourse.
I hope I have answered your questions. You deserve to feel good in your body!
