How to “Fix” a Vaginal Canal that Feels Loose
The Question
“Please help! My vaginal canal feels loose and lax after I’ve had my children. I think my uterus has dropped, too. I’ve tried Kegels and some nonsurgical treatments and it doesn’t feel like anything is working.”

Thank you for your question. Before I answer, I want to let you know that I’m proud of you for seeking more information and support.
Now, to your question.
First, I want to set the record straight: Many women experience a feeling of vaginal laxity after vaginal childbirth, particularly after two or more deliveries.
This is normal.
Pregnancy and delivery can stretch the vaginal muscles and surrounding support structures, which can sometimes lead to the sensation that the vaginal canal feels “loose.”
Based on your description alone, it is difficult to determine exactly what you are seeing in the photo or whether the uterus is protruding. A true uterine prolapse typically presents with a noticeable bulge that may worsen when standing or bearing down, but this requires an in-person pelvic exam to diagnose properly.
If the concern is vaginal laxity, there are both surgical and non-surgical options. Many patients consider vaginoplasty, which tightens the underlying vaginal muscles and supportive tissues to restore internal tone. If there is also excess or stretched tissue near the vaginal opening, a perineoplasty may be recommended to repair and tighten the perineal area.
Because you have already tried Kegels and non-surgical treatments without improvement, a consultation with a board-certified labiaplasty surgeon would be the best next step. An exam can determine whether the issue is vaginal laxity, pelvic organ prolapse or another anatomical concern and help guide the most appropriate treatment.
You deserve to feel comfortable and confident in your body and I hope you get the answers – and treatments – you deserve.
